It’s Christmas week and anyone I meet assumes that this is a quiet month for recruitment. Thankfully for Talent Partners this is not the case and December has seen a number of placements concluded with a strong pipeline of activity for the start of 2010.
Enormous satisfaction has been gained by placing a couple of candidates back into the workforce this month after they both suffered the huge disappointment of having been made redundant in 2009. We have spoken with many talented individuals in 2009 who have suffered job losses due to circumstances outside of their control and it has been a pleasure to work with many of these candidates and to place them into the workforce again.
In this market the employer has huge choice over who their hire for their organisations. To get to the final interview stage the candidate needs to impress all interviewers throughout the process. One dissenting voice is enough to derail an interview process in this marketplace but some candidates don’t seemed to have grasped this concept yet. The simple maxim still applies, Fail to plan, plan to fail!

Talent Partners are presently carrying out the research for their annual white paper on the competition for talent in the Irish marketplace. As a manager responsible for attracting and retaining high performing individuals for your business you are asked to take a few minutes to complete the online survey which can be accessed at http://tinyurl.com/talentpartners09
The survey will take between 7 to 12 minutes to complete and all respondents will receive a complimentary copy of the white paper when it is published in Q1, 2010.
We have received an excellent response to the survey with trends to date including:
-
42% of respondents perceiving that it is easier to identify high performing individuals for businesses today, compared to 12 months ago.
-
21.5% of respondents have been forced to lay off high performers this year due to the economic downturn.
-
78% of respondents have stated that the economic climate has reduced revenues and profits for their business in 2009.
It will be very interesting to benchmark the 2009 survey findings against the results from the published white papers on 2007 & 2007. We expect the latest findings to be published in q1 2010.
