Our blog has been ignored somewhat in the last couple of weeks as we have finalised our 2008 white paper on “The Competition for Talent in the Irish Marketplace”. Over the next few weeks we will focus on the key areas from the white paper but here are some of the headlines:
(i) 90% of respondents state that it is difficult or extremely difficult to recruit high performing individuals for their business, with 30% stating that is more difficult than last year.
(ii) Sales, followed by Technical/IT roles are the most difficult position to recruit for.
(iii) There is a significant increase in the use of business network sites to recruit high performing individuals.
(iv) Over one third of those companies interviewed believed the loss of a high performer will cost a company in excess of €150k.
(v) In spite of the cost of losing a high performer, only 44% of organisations have a talent management programme in place.
(vi) 47% of companies interviewed anticipate having more staff in employment at the 31/12/2008 compared with 31/12/2007.
(vii) Offshoring continues to increase and companies see the availability of talent and cost savings associated with as the two key reasons for this.
As discussed earlier, Talent Partners will develop the above points in our blogs over the coming weeks and the white paper will also be available for distribution in January 2009.
