Recruitment – What’s happening in the ICT Marketplace
Wednesday, July 9th, 2008At present it seems impossible to escape the doom and gloom that surrounds us wherever we go in relation to the Irish economy. Today, due to continued financial pressure, we had the cost cutting plan from our government which is expected to yield savings (perhaps not the right word, we will have to wait and see what the effects will really be!) of close to €1.5 billion before the end of 2009. As this news was being announced, the value of shares in Irish banks continued to slide and Siemens announced plans to cut almost 17,000 jobs worldwide. With 1,100 people employed by Siemens in Ireland there will be some nervous people in the coming days and weeks.
But there is good news. At Talent Partners we continue to see a demand for top performers in the Irish marketplace and companies, (both client’s and prospects of Talent Partners) are still actively hiring. Yes the hiring process is taken more time than compared to 12 months ago but there is also more due diligence being taken by both the candidate and employer.
Last year the White Paper that Talent Partners commissioned on “The Competition for Talent In the Irish Marketplace” showed us that 92% of respondents found it either difficult or extremely difficult to recruit top performers in the Irish marketplace. Today I believe that figure has reduced downwards in certain areas, but there is still a very strong demand for talented leaders and professionals in the Sales, Technical and Management arena.
We are actively working with a number of clients both SME’s and Multinationals and for some this market presents them with outstanding opportunities and recruiting top professionals will help them to maximise these opportunities.
